2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate B. Taylor for | ||||||
4 | singing the National Anthem on Veterans Day, November 11, 2011, | ||||||
5 | at the Inaugural Quicken Loans Carrier Classic game between | ||||||
6 | Michigan State and North Carolina on the USS Vinson near San | ||||||
7 | Diego, California; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, President Barack Obama, Magic Johnson, | ||||||
9 | representing Michigan State, James Worthy, representing North | ||||||
10 | Carolina, and high ranking dignitaries, will join this | ||||||
11 | celebration of all veterans on the aircraft carrier that buried | ||||||
12 | Osama Bin Laden at sea; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, B. Taylor, a multi-talented musician who plays 4 | ||||||
14 | instruments, writer, and producer is the first since Michael | ||||||
15 | Jackson and only hip hop artist endorsed by the Gordy family | ||||||
16 | and the Motown Legends, including Pete Moore, Claudette | ||||||
17 | Robinson, Bobby Rogers of Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, | ||||||
18 | Mary Wilson of the Supremes, the Marvelettes, Martha Reeves and | ||||||
19 | the Vandellas, the Temptations, the Four Tops, and by the Cash | ||||||
20 | Family of country music fame; and

21 | WHEREAS, Motown Legends Pete Moore, Claudette Robinson and | ||||||
22 | other Legends will attend the 2011 Quicken Loans Carrier |

1 | Classic in support of B. Taylor who they have titled as "the | ||||||
2 | Stevie Wonder of Hip Hop" and the "New Sound of Classic | ||||||
3 | Motown"; and

4 | WHEREAS, B. Taylor's hit "Fire in Your Eyes" with NCIS star | ||||||
5 | Pauley Perrette has been submitted for consideration for | ||||||
6 | nomination at the upcoming 54th Annual Grammy Awards; it was #1 | ||||||
7 | on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Singles Sales chart for 2 | ||||||
8 | weeks, #2 for 5 weeks, in the top 10 for 9 weeks, and hit #4 on | ||||||
9 | the Billboard Hot Singles Sales chart (all genres); and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, A 1996 graduate of Dunlap High School, B. Taylor | ||||||
11 | was a football and basketball star, University of Missouri | ||||||
12 | athlete, and United States Navy Veteran who was a member of the | ||||||
13 | All Navy-USA basketball team; he chose to pursue a career in | ||||||
14 | music over the National Football League; and

15 | WHEREAS, B. Taylor, son of Bill and Willie Ann Taylor, most | ||||||
16 | enjoys returning home to share his inspiring message of hope, | ||||||
17 | faith, and honesty with students, including those of the Dunlap | ||||||
18 | and Peoria schools; therefore, be it
| ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
20 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
21 | we commend B. Taylor on the honor of his singing the National | ||||||
22 | Anthem at this historic Veterans Day celebration and wish him |
