2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate and thank Donna | ||||||
4 | Becerra for her 30 years of dedication and commitment to the | ||||||
5 | Village of Glendale Heights and its residents; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Donna Becerra celebrated her 30th anniversary | ||||||
7 | with the Village of Glendale Heights on June 9, 2007; she has | ||||||
8 | been a resident of Glendale Heights since 1975; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Donna Becerra began her career with the Village | ||||||
10 | when she was hired as a Secretary in the Community Development | ||||||
11 | Department; through the years, her role in the Community | ||||||
12 | Development department changed and she held numerous | ||||||
13 | positions, including Records Supervisor, Assistant Building | ||||||
14 | Commissioner, and Staff Planner, before she was promoted to the | ||||||
15 | position of Director of Community Development in 1986; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Donna Becerra continued to move up within the | ||||||
17 | organization; in 1994, she was promoted to the position of | ||||||
18 | Assistant Village Administrator, a position which also | ||||||
19 | included serving as the Human Resource Director; in 2004, she | ||||||
20 | was promoted to the position of Village Administrator, the | ||||||
21 | position she currently holds today; as Village Administrator, | ||||||
22 | she oversees and manages the day to day operations of the |

1 | entire Village; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Donna Becerra's 30 years of commitment and | ||||||
3 | dedication to this Village is apparent through the many events | ||||||
4 | and functions that she helps plan, organize, and attend | ||||||
5 | throughout the year; she serves on the Glendale Lakes Golf Club | ||||||
6 | Committee, the International Day Committee, and the Campus Plan | ||||||
7 | Committee; as a member of the Historic Committee, she has spent | ||||||
8 | countless hours researching records at the DuPage County | ||||||
9 | Courthouse, the library, archived newspapers, and contacting | ||||||
10 | both current and previous residents in order to gather as much | ||||||
11 | information as possible; she then used this information to | ||||||
12 | create a History of the Village of Glendale Heights Brochure; | ||||||
13 | in 2005, she received the Studs Terkel Humanities Service Award | ||||||
14 | for her tireless work on researching and documenting the | ||||||
15 | History of the Village of Glendale Heights; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Donna Becerra has taken it upon herself to become | ||||||
17 | knowledgeable in all aspects of Village operations and has | ||||||
18 | completed many certifications and training courses throughout | ||||||
19 | her career; during her time in the Community Development | ||||||
20 | department, she earned a certification in local government | ||||||
21 | planning; she is also certified in building inspections; she | ||||||
22 | also served as the liaison to the Plan Commission during her | ||||||
23 | tenure as the Director of Community Development; as the | ||||||
24 | Assistant Village Administrator, she earned her certification |

1 | as a Human Resource Professional by the Society for Human | ||||||
2 | Resource Management and became certified in Intergovernmental | ||||||
3 | Risk Management; most recently, she earned her certification in | ||||||
4 | Emergency Response and Homeland Security; therefore, be it
| ||||||
5 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
6 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
7 | we congratulate and thank Donna Becerra for her 30 years of | ||||||
8 | dedication and commitment to the Village of Glendale Heights | ||||||
9 | and its residents and wish her continued success and happiness | ||||||
10 | in the future; and be it further

11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
12 | presented to Donna Becerra as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
13 | respect.
