| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Leo | ||||||
| 4 | R. Finley Jr. of Orland Park, who passed away on August 26, | ||||||
| 5 | 2011; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, He was a graduate of the Chicago College of Dental | ||||||
| 7 | Surgery/Loyola University Class of 1963; he was a veteran of | ||||||
| 8 | the United States Army, serving as a captain in the Dental | ||||||
| 9 | Corps from 1963 to 1965; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Dr. Finley enjoyed a long career in dentistry in | ||||||
| 11 | Chicago's south suburbs; he also taught at the Loyola | ||||||
| 12 | University Dental School; in the South Suburban Branch of the | ||||||
| 13 | Chicago Dental Society, he held all offices before his term as | ||||||
| 14 | president in 1972-1973; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, He was later elected to the Chicago Dental Society | ||||||
| 16 | Board of Directors, and served as its president from 1989 to | ||||||
| 17 | 1990; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, On the state level, he was elected as vice speaker | ||||||
| 19 | of the Illinois State Dental Society's House of Delegates and | ||||||
| 20 | chaired the Dent-IL-PAC Governor's Club; and
| ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | WHEREAS, On the national level, he represented Illinois | ||||||
| 2 | dentists in the American Dental Association's House of | ||||||
| 3 | Delegates from 1986 to 1988 and from 1996 to 1997; he was | ||||||
| 4 | elected 8th District Trustee in 1998; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Dr. Leo Finley Jr. was the beloved husband of | ||||||
| 6 | Alicia, nee Jakubas, for 50 blessed years; he was the loving | ||||||
| 7 | father of Leo III (Brenda), Timothy (Donna), Allen (Laurie), | ||||||
| 8 | Suzanne Duntz, and Paul (Laura); he was the proud grandpa of 13 | ||||||
| 9 | and great-grandpa of 3; he was the brother of Joan Finley and | ||||||
| 10 | Alice (Dr. James) Wack; and the uncle of 10 nieces and nephews; | ||||||
| 11 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 13 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 14 | we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dr. | ||||||
| 15 | Leo R. Finley Jr.; and be it further
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 17 | presented to the family of Dr. Leo R. Finley Jr. as a symbol of | ||||||
| 18 | our sincere sympathy.
