2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Norman and Brenda |
4 | | Johnson on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary on |
5 | | March 18, 2011; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Norman and Brenda Johnson were married on March |
7 | | 18, 1961; together, they have one daughter, Lorrie Leuthold, |
8 | | three granddaughters, Jessica Young, Angela Moriarity, and |
9 | | Brittany Krysinski, and one great grandchild, Jax; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, With a dream of becoming a doctor, Norman Johnson |
11 | | attended Augustana College in Rock Island, where he earned his |
12 | | bachelor's degree in 1975; Brenda, then working as a beautician |
13 | | and taking on multiple side jobs, helped put Norman through |
14 | | medical school, first at University of Illinois in Champaign |
15 | | then later at Peoria College of Medicine, where he graduated in |
16 | | 1978; Norman then entered an internal medicine residency at |
17 | | Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, where he graduated in |
18 | | 1981; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Norman Johnson started a private practice in Pekin |
20 | | in 1981; he then formed the Delavan Medical Center the |
21 | | following year; three years later, he formed the Medical Clinic |
22 | | in Morton and the East Peoria Multi-Specialty Group; and
|
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Norman and Brenda Johnson created Health |
2 | | Professionals Ltd. in 1995 and Advanced Correctional |
3 | | Healthcare in 2003; the family business, which provides health |
4 | | care services to jails, has 205 facilities in 17 states, serves |
5 | | more than 25,000 inmates, and employs more than 500 |
6 | | individuals; Advanced Correctional Healthcare was ranked 37th |
7 | | on Inc. Magazine's list of the fastest growing health care |
8 | | companies in the U.S. in 2007; their daughter, Lorrie, and her |
9 | | husband, Neil, work closely with the family business; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Brenda Johnson owned and operated Johnson & Vaughn |
11 | | Jewelers and Johnson Fine Jewelry until 2005; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Norman Johnson is a past president of Opera |
13 | | Illinois and was chairman of finance for the Central Illinois |
14 | | Medical Association; he has also served on the Illinois |
15 | | Department of Public Health Alzheimer's Research Peer Review |
16 | | Committee and the Illinois Medical Society Political Action |
17 | | Committee; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Norman and Brenda Johnson enjoy dining out with |
19 | | friends, golf, ballroom dancing, and spending time with their |
20 | | family; they have traveled to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Spain, |
21 | | Morocco, Italy, the Caribbean, and China, and spend seven weeks |
22 | | each year in Hawaii; in addition, Brenda is an avid art |

1 | | collector and Norman enjoys deep sea fishing; therefore, be it

2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
3 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
4 | | we congratulate Norman and Brenda Johnson on the occasion of |
5 | | their 50th wedding anniversary and wish them many happy and |
6 | | healthy years to come; and be it further

7 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
8 | | presented to Norman and Brenda Johnson as a symbol of our |
9 | | esteem and respect.
