2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Windy City |
4 | | Warriors on their impressive season; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, The Windy City Warriors, fresh off their 6th |
6 | | unprecedented Illinois High School Association Wheelchair |
7 | | Basketball State Title, wrapped up their season ranked 8th out |
8 | | of 32 teams competing at the national tournament; playing at |
9 | | the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) |
10 | | Championship Tournament in Denver, Colorado, from April |
11 | | 7-10th, the team got the opportunity to go up against some |
12 | | strong competition; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, The Warriors started with a win against the Long |
14 | | Island Lightening; they went on to lose games against the |
15 | | Nebraska Red Dawgs (the eventual 1st place team), Utah Jr. |
16 | | Wheeling Jazz by 1 point, and the Rancho Renegades on a buzzer |
17 | | beater at the end of overtime by 1 point; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Western DuPage Special |
19 | | Recreation Association (WDSRA), the Windy City Warriors |
20 | | wheelchair basketball team dominated the IHSA tournament; the |
21 | | Warriors once again earned the right to be called the premier |
22 | | wheelchair basketball team in the State; and

1 | | WHEREAS, The Western DuPage Special Recreation Association |
2 | | serves more than 4,500 children and adults with special needs |
3 | | through over 1,500 programs, trips, and special events each |
4 | | year; additionally, WDSRA achieves over 15,000 participations |
5 | | through programs, inclusion services, community education, and |
6 | | fundraising events; WDSRA offers Special Olympics and adapted |
7 | | sports programs, dance; and art programs, as well as social |
8 | | clubs and camps;
WDSRA is a nationally acclaimed, |
9 | | not-for-profit organization and a cooperative extension of 9 |
10 | | park districts, including Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Glen |
11 | | Ellyn, Naperville, Roselle, Warrenville, West Chicago, |
12 | | Wheaton, and Winfield; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, The Windy City Warriors are: Amy Chapman, Blake |
14 | | Harmet, Justin Harrison, Matt Molenkamp, Chris Murphy, |
15 | | Jonathan Ruiz, Nick Umek, Douglas Davison, Erik Todd, Kyle |
16 | | Gribble, Mary Kate Callahan, Jessica Lindsay, and Kyle |
17 | | Picchetti; they are led by Coaches Kevin Hosea and Brittany |
18 | | Luxton; therefore, be it

19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
20 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
21 | | we congratulate the Windy City Warriors on their impressive |
22 | | season and wish them continued success for years to come; and |
