2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Robert A. Morris on | ||||||
4 | the occasion of his retirement from a long and distinguished | ||||||
5 | career as a city administrator; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Robert Morris has over 35 years of combined | ||||||
7 | municipal service in the cities of Huntingburg, Indiana, | ||||||
8 | Charleston, Missouri, Macomb, Illinois, and Washington, | ||||||
9 | Illinois; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Robert Morris played an integral role in | ||||||
11 | establishing Five Points Washington, a community center in | ||||||
12 | Washington; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Robert Morris oversaw the purchase and complete | ||||||
14 | renovation of the former library building in Washington into | ||||||
15 | the new City Hall administrative building; he later began the | ||||||
16 | process of renovating the former City Hall administrative | ||||||
17 | offices building to house the new Police Department | ||||||
18 | headquarters; these two renovation projects lessened the | ||||||
19 | burden on taxpayers by utilizing older buildings instead of new | ||||||
20 | construction; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Robert Morris is an integral member of the |

| |||||||
1 | organizing team that brings the community together to spearhead | ||||||
2 | cleanup efforts around the city during Washington's Take Pride | ||||||
3 | in Washington Day each spring; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Robert Morris has served on the Board of Directors | ||||||
5 | of Washington's Chamber of Commerce for the past six years; and | ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Most notably, Robert Morris has balanced the City | ||||||
7 | of Washington's budget without significantly diminishing the | ||||||
8 | services the City provides to its citizens; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Robert A. Morris has served as a model of hard | ||||||
10 | work, integrity, dedication, and success for the people of the | ||||||
11 | State of Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
13 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
14 | we congratulate Robert A. Morris on the occasion of his | ||||||
15 | retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement | ||||||
16 | years; and be it further

17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
18 | presented to Robert A. Morris as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
19 | respect.
