HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, U.S. News & World Report reviewed nearly 5,000 
3hospitals in 16 adult specialties and 10 pediatric specialties 
4in order to determine the country's "Best Regional Hospitals"; 
5and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Of 53 hospitals in the St. Louis/Illinois 
7metropolitan area, 15 hospitals were listed as the best 
8hospitals; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, To be recognized as a "Best Regional Hospital", a 
10hospital must score in the top 25% among its peers in at least 
11one of 16 medical specialties; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Anderson Hospital is a general medical and 
13surgical hospital in Maryville; it performed nearly at the 
14level of nationally ranked "U.S. News Best Hospitals" in one 
15adult specialty; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Anderson Hospital is a 151 bed not-for-profit 
17facility with over 1,000 staff members, 240 medical staff 
18members, and over 200 members of the auxiliary; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Anderson Hospital had 7,732 admissions in the most 
20recent year for which data is available; it performed 2,844

1annual inpatient and 8,683 outpatient surgeries;  Anderson's 
2emergency room had 33,476 visits and is accredited by the Joint 
3Commission (JC) and the Commission on Accreditation of 
4Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF); and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, U.S. News & World Report ranked Anderson Hospital 
6as the 12th "Best Regional Hospital" in the St. Louis/Illinois 
7metropolitan area; therefore, be it
  
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
9NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
10we recognize Anderson Hospital for its achievements and 
11exemplary work resulting in obtaining the U.S. News & World 
12Report ranking as the "12th Best Regional Hospital"; and be it 
13further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to Anderson Hospital as a symbol of our respect and 
16esteem.
