2 | WHEREAS, The House Republican Representatives played the | ||||||
3 | House Republican Staff in basketball on April 6, 2011; and

4 | WHEREAS, The House Republican Staff, led by Chief of Staff | ||||||
5 | Matt O'Shea and Deputy Chief of Staff Scott Reimers, defeated | ||||||
6 | the House Republican Representatives by a combined score of | ||||||
7 | 51-13; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Matt O'Shea, Scott Reimers, Sara Wojcicki, David | ||||||
9 | Dring, Michael Mahoney, Robert Stefanski, Jason Rudis, John | ||||||
10 | Slocum, JB Myers, Kevin Daley, Jeremy Fox, Coach David | ||||||
11 | Luechtenfeld, and team statistician Donovan Griffith won the | ||||||
12 | first ever Staff vs. Representatives basketball game, which was | ||||||
13 | commonly referred to as the Studs vs. the Duds; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, The House Republican Representatives were forced | ||||||
15 | to ask the House Republican Staff to play 4 players to their 5 | ||||||
16 | to "make it fair"; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, The House Republican Representatives were led by | ||||||
18 | Representative Pam Roth, scoring 4 of the House Republican | ||||||
19 | Representatives' 13 points, thus completely outplaying | ||||||
20 | seatmate Representative Jim Watson; and

1 | WHEREAS, Prior to the game, Michael Mahoney of the House | ||||||
2 | Republican Staff was mocked by fellow staff members for | ||||||
3 | possessing minimal basketball experience and being excessively | ||||||
4 | awkward; he averaged over 8 points per game; and

5 | WHEREAS, The House Republican Staff was led in scoring by | ||||||
6 | Matt Paprocki, Michael Mahoney, Jason Rudis, and John Slocum, | ||||||
7 | who all scored 8 points; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Representative Connelly, while playing 5 on 4 | ||||||
9 | basketball, celebrated more than UConn's National Basketball | ||||||
10 | Team after hitting an insignificant 3-point shot; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, The House Republican Representatives created a | ||||||
12 | new basketball statistic and similarly set a new state record | ||||||
13 | of 8 CPG (collapses per game); and | ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Both Representative Sullivan and Former House | ||||||
15 | Republican Staffer David Dring battled the entire game for the | ||||||
16 | 'shortest shorts award'; and | ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Coach John Cavaletto of Mater Dei High School was | ||||||
18 | outsmarted and outcoached by Coach David Luechtenfeld of | ||||||
19 | Okawville High School with the stifling 1-2-1 zone defense and | ||||||
20 | an emotional halftime speech; therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
2 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
3 | we recognize and applaud the House Republican Staff Basketball | ||||||
4 | team for their accomplishments during the April 6, 2011 game, | ||||||
5 | for their talent and teamwork displayed on the court, for their | ||||||
6 | excellence and humility off the court, for the outstanding | ||||||
7 | coaching staff leading the team, and for the brilliant | ||||||
8 | sportsmanship demonstrated throughout and after the game; and | ||||||
9 | be it further

10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the House Republican Staff Basketball team as a | ||||||
12 | symbol of our respect and esteem.
