2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate John King as he |
4 | | retires from his position as Bond County Circuit Clerk; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, After 43 years of serving the
public as a police |
6 | | officer and the circuit
clerk of Bond County, John King
retired |
7 | | on January 31, 2011; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, He
was first elected to the post in 1996,
and was |
9 | | re-elected in 2000, 2004,
and 2008 to four-year terms; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, He was hired as a City of
Greenville police |
11 | | officer in 1968; he
was appointed police chief in 1980
and |
12 | | retired from that position just
before being elected as circuit |
13 | | clerk; he arrived in Greenville in
1964, attending Greenville |
14 | | College;
he thought that being a police officer
would be a good |
15 | | life experience,
and applied at the Greenville
police |
16 | | department and was hired as a patrolman; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, He also served
as chairman for five years in Zone
|
18 | | 3 for the Illinois Circuit Clerk's
Association, spending one |
19 | | year as
State president in 2007, and then
another year as |
20 | | immediate past president; and
|

1 | | WHEREAS, The circuit clerk is the keeper of
the court |
2 | | records, filing and overseeing
all criminal cases, orders of |
3 | | protection,
traffic tickets, juvenile matters,
lawsuits, small |
4 | | claims cases,
passports, and divorces; in 1997, the first full
|
5 | | year John King was circuit clerk, a total
of 1,411 traffic |
6 | | tickets were written by police
in the county; in 2009, the |
7 | | number was over
8,000 and last year there were 7,752
tickets |
8 | | issued; and |
9 | | WHEREAS, After retirement, he will remain very active in |
10 | | the
Okaw Valley Radio Club, where he is currently
the |
11 | | president; he also wants to do some traveling,
become more |
12 | | involved in photography,
and possibly do a little work on
the |
13 | | side, to have funds for his amateur
radio activities; |
14 | | therefore, be it
|
15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
16 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
17 | | we congratulate John King on his retirement and wish him well |
18 | | in all his future endeavors; and be it further
|
19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to John King as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
