2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jack R. Wilson on | ||||||
4 | the occasion of his 100th birthday; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jack Wilson was born at home in Chicago on | ||||||
6 | February 25, 1911; in 1951, he moved to his Mound Street home | ||||||
7 | in Willow Springs with his wife, Helen, and his daughters, Judy | ||||||
8 | and Nancy; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Jack Wilson served his country with pride and | ||||||
10 | distinction, attaining the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army's | ||||||
11 | 202nd Battalion before he was honorably discharged in 1942; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Jack Wilson has been actively involved in the | ||||||
13 | American Legion Post 832, William R. Edmondson in Willow | ||||||
14 | Springs, serving as a Commander of the post and now as the | ||||||
15 | post's Adjutant; and | ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Jack Wilson continues to be an active and proud | ||||||
17 | member of the neighboring Lemont VFW; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Jack Wilson has been actively involved in the | ||||||
19 | Village of Willow Springs and surrounding communities as an | ||||||
20 | avid bowler, pool player, and sportsman dating back to his days |

| |||||||
1 | as a member of the Hamilton Park Flash; and | ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Jack Wilson diligently served the public for 36 | ||||||
3 | years as a driver for the Chicago Rapid Transit Company and the | ||||||
4 | Chicago Transportation Authority, working out of the 69th | ||||||
5 | Street Depot; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Jack Wilson has honorably exhibited the qualities | ||||||
7 | and values of a true American through his love of country, his | ||||||
8 | love of the American flag, and his protection of family values; | ||||||
9 | and | ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Jack Wilson has remained a proud example of his | ||||||
11 | Scottish heritage, being an active member of the Clan Gunn; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Jack Wilson was born the same year as the | ||||||
13 | invention of the traffic light and has witnessed such events as | ||||||
14 | the first movie film and the first Chicago Blackhawks game, but | ||||||
15 | still has not lived long enough to see his Chicago Cubs win the | ||||||
16 | World Series; therefore, be it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
18 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
19 | we congratulate Jack R. Wilson on the occasion of his 100th | ||||||
20 | birthday and wish him many happy and healthy years to come; and | ||||||
21 | be it further
