HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Marilyn
4King, who passed away on January 16, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marilyn King was born on March 12, 1958, in
6Bastrop, Louisiana to Ruth Wheeler Mangum; after meeting Dr.
7Carl E. King, Sr. on September 30, 1977, the couple was married
8one year later; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Marilyn King attended Morehouse Elementary and
10Bastrop Middle School; she subsequently moved to Chicago and
11attended Chicago Vocational School, where she graduated in the
12top 10 of her class; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Marilyn King was employed at the Chicago Board of
14Education in the math department; she also worked as a grant
15writer at Loyola University in Chicago and at Commonwealth
16Edison; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Marilyn King loved the Lord and founded Christ
18Community Church in 1987; she served as first lady of the
19church and started the Women Ministries, Youth Church School,
20and Adult Co-ed Bible study; and

1    WHEREAS, Marilyn King was preceded in death by Utah Mangum,
2Victoria Wheeler, Diana Higginbotham, Ernest Young, and Paul
3Garrett; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Marilyn King is survived by her husband; her
5children, Marjalene, Anna, and Carl King, II; her grandson,
6Stephen Kelly; her sister, Mardis Garette; and her many nieces,
7nephews, and other family members; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of
11Marilyn King; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Marilyn King as an expression of our
14sympathy.
