HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Northwestern University Dance Marathon is one of 
3the largest entirely student-run philanthropic causes in the 
4world; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Nearly 40,000 children are born with a congenital 
6heart defect in the United States each year; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, The Children's Heart Foundation, the only 
8non-profit organization created exclusively to raise funds for 
9vital congenital heart defect research, is the Northwestern 
10University Dance Marathon's 2011 primary beneficiary; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Thousands of members of the Northwestern 
12University and Chicago community will come together to 
13participate in a 30-hour non-stop danceathon at the culmination 
14of a year-long quest to raise funds and awareness for The 
15Children's Heart Foundation and the Evanston Community 
16Foundation on March 4-6, 2011; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, 2011 marks the 37th annual celebration of 
18Northwestern University Dance Marathon, held in Evanston, and 
19the organizers' commitment to unite Northwestern University 
20and nearby communities through education and philanthropic 
21fundraising; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we support the mission and spirit of Northwestern University 
4Dance Marathon, congratulate the dancers, supporters, and 
5beneficiaries, and invite all people to join in celebrating the 
6pride, potential, and power of the Northwestern University 
7Dance Marathon and The Children's Heart Foundation on the 
8weekend of March 4-6, 2011.
