2 | WHEREAS, Michael Richards was born in Peoria; he is | ||||||
3 | currently a resident of Chicago; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Michael Richards has been employed for almost | ||||||
5 | forty years with the Xerox Corporation; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Michael Richards graduated from Peoria Central | ||||||
7 | High School in 1969; he subsequently attended Illinois Central | ||||||
8 | College and Bradley University, majoring in electrical | ||||||
9 | engineering and technology; and | ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Michael Richards has had various service line and | ||||||
11 | staff positions with Xerox, including Service Engineer in | ||||||
12 | Peoria, Field Manager of Customer Service in Chicago, District | ||||||
13 | Service Support Manager in Chicago, Employment Manager for | ||||||
14 | Midwest and Southern Regions, Human Resources Operations | ||||||
15 | Manager, and District Manager of Customer Service in the | ||||||
16 | Chicago Metropolitan Area; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Michael Richards has always been heavily involved | ||||||
18 | in the community; both personally and through the auspices of | ||||||
19 | his company, through numerous organizations, including the | ||||||
20 | Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity, the | ||||||
21 | Tri-County Urban League, Lawrence Hill Youth Services, where he |

1 | served as a mentor for men in 1992, Xerox Concerned Black | ||||||
2 | Employees, where he served as an officer for the national | ||||||
3 | organization, the Minority Economic Resource Corporation Board | ||||||
4 | of Directors, the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement | ||||||
5 | Board of Directors, the Mt. Sinai Community Institute Board of | ||||||
6 | Directors, the Chicago Minority Business Development Council | ||||||
7 | Board of Directors, and the National Black Employee | ||||||
8 | Association, where he held the offices of Chairman and | ||||||
9 | Treasurer; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Michael Richards has been invited to speak on | ||||||
11 | business issues on a number of occasions as a speaker for the | ||||||
12 | Kemper Scholarship Program at Northern Illinois University, as | ||||||
13 | a panelist at Loyola University to address diversity in | ||||||
14 | corporate America, and as a speaker on business ethics at the | ||||||
15 | Illinois Business Week Program at North Central College; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Michael Richards is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha | ||||||
17 | Fraternity and is active in many other organizations, both | ||||||
18 | professional and service related, and has always been committed | ||||||
19 | to helping others and will continue to do so in his retirement; | ||||||
20 | therefore, be it

21 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
22 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
23 | we congratulate Michael A. Richards for his many years of |

1 | service to his community, wish him the best in his future | ||||||
2 | endeavors, and trust that he will prosper as much in the future | ||||||
3 | as he has in the past; and be it further

4 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
5 | presented to Michael A. Richards and his family to commemorate | ||||||
6 | this special occasion.
