2 | | WHEREAS, Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurological |
3 | | movement disorder of the central nervous system; the disease |
4 | | has a unique impact on each patient; and

5 | | WHEREAS, According to the Parkinson's Action Network, |
6 | | Parkinson's Disease Foundation, the National Parkinson |
7 | | Foundation, the American Parkinson Disease Association, and |
8 | | the National Institutes of Health, there are over one million |
9 | | Americans diagnosed with Parkinson's disease; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Symptoms of Parkinson's disease include slowness, |
11 | | tremor, difficulty with balance and speaking, rigidity, and |
12 | | cognitive and memory problems; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Although new medicines and therapies may enhance |
14 | | life for some time for people with Parkinson's disease, more |
15 | | work is needed for a cure; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Increased education and research are needed to |
17 | | find more effective treatments with fewer side effects and, |
18 | | ultimately, a cure for Parkinson's disease; and |
19 | | WHEREAS, A multi-disciplinary approach to Parkinson's |
20 | | disease care includes local wellness, support, and caregiver |
