2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
A.C. |
4 | | "Junie" Bartulis, who passed away on January 31, 2011; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, A.C. Bartulis was born on December 9, 1927, in |
6 | | Benld; his parents were August Bartulis, Sr. and Margaret |
7 | | (Baltruszis) Bartulis; he married Mary Bartulis on July 12, |
8 | | 1952, in Gillespie; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, A.C. Bartulis served his country with pride and |
10 | | distinction as a member of the United States Army shortly after |
11 | | World War II and again during the Korean Conflict; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, A.C. Bartulis was a lifelong resident of Benld; he |
13 | | owned and managed the Wayside Garage and Service Station; and |
14 | | WHEREAS, A.C. Bartulis had a long and distinguished career |
15 | | in politics; he began his political career in 1966 as the |
16 | | Macoupin County Treasurer; in November of 1970, he won a seat |
17 | | in the old 53rd District of the Illinois House of |
18 | | Representatives, where he served from 1971 to 1973; after |
19 | | redistricting, he represented the 49th House District, and from |
20 | | 1973 to 1974, served as Senator in the 49th District; after an |
21 | | electoral defeat in 1974, he regained his seat in the 49th |
