2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Miriam B. |
4 | | Fry of Naperville, who passed away on January 17, 2011; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, She was born March 22, 1917 in Wheeling; she was a |
6 | | 1935 graduate of Arlington Heights High School and a 1939 |
7 | | graduate of North Central College in Naperville, where she |
8 | | received a Bachelor's degree in English; after college, Miriam |
9 | | moved to Detroit, Michigan, where her husband, Arthur, worked |
10 | | for General Motors; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, After her husband passed away in 1945, the family |
12 | | turned to Naperville; she started working at the Nichols |
13 | | Library in the late 40's; she proudly served as Library |
14 | | Director at Nichols Library from 1950-1984, a tenure which saw |
15 | | tremendous growth for the library; she was later honored with |
16 | | the establishment of The Miriam B. Fry Reading Room, which is |
17 | | located in the new library; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, She was a member of the Naperville Women's Club, |
19 | | the American Association of University Women (AAUW), PEO (the |
20 | | Philanthropic Educational Organization), and a longtime active |
21 | | member of Grace United Methodist Church in Naperville; and
|

1 | | WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur |
2 | | S. Fry, whom she married June 1, 1940 at Grace Evangelical |
3 | | Church in Naperville; and her parents, Ira and Ada Bubert; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Miriam Fry is survived by her sons, Gary (Mary |
5 | | Beth) Fry and Dr. James (Janet) Fry; her grandchildren, Deborah |
6 | | (Gregory) Marten, Douglas (Kathryn) Fry, Catherine (Justin) |
7 | | Brinkman, Carolyn (Stuart) Naylor, Scott (Kim) Fry, and Steven |
8 | | Fry; her great-grandchildren, Andrew, Evan, and Max Marten, |
9 | | Lucy, Stella, and Charlie Fry, Joshua, Kyle, and Ted Brinkman, |
10 | | Evan Fry, and Ally Fry; her brother, Rollin (Jeanne) Bubert; |
11 | | and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
13 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
14 | | we mourn, along with her family, friends, and people of the |
15 | | community, the passing of Miriam Fry; and be it further

16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
17 | | presented to the family of Miriam Fry as a symbol of our |
18 | | sincere sympathy.
