2 | | WHEREAS, Interstate 57 is a major thoroughfare that runs |
3 | | through the a large portion of the City of Chicago and the |
4 | | outlying suburbs, as well as through the State of Illinois, |
5 | | tracing the route of the former Illinois Central railroad line; |
6 | | and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, The Tuskegee Airmen were dedicated, determined |
8 | | young men who enlisted to become America's first black military |
9 | | airmen; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Each of the men possessed a strong personal desire |
11 | | to serve the United States with the best of his ability; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, After the end of World War II, black airmen |
13 | | returned to the United States and once again faced racism and |
14 | | hatred, despite their outstanding service record; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, These brave men deserve to be recognized by the |
16 | | State of Illinois for their service to their country during |
17 | | wartime; therefore, be it

18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
19 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE |
