SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
70 ILCS 1205/4-7  from Ch. 105, par. 4-7

    Amends the Park District Code. In a Section that designates certain park district board members as conservators of the peace, removes language providing that the exercise of that authority shall not permit the possession or use of firearms by those board members. Provides that those board members shall complete a training course under the Peace Officer Firearm Training Act before carrying a firearm. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Park District Code is amended by changing
5Section 4-7 as follows:
 
6    (70 ILCS 1205/4-7)  (from Ch. 105, par. 4-7)
7    Sec. 4-7. Employees; police force. The board of any park
8district may employ engineers, attorneys, clerks and other
9employees, including a police force, as may be required, and
10may define and prescribe their respective duties and
11compensation. After receiving a certificate attesting to the
12successful completion of a training course administered by the
13Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board, the members
14of the board and all police officers appointed by the board
15shall be conservators of the peace within and upon the parks,
16boulevards, driveways, and property controlled by that park
17district, and shall have power to make arrests subject to the
18provisions of the Park District Police Act. Before carrying a
19firearm, each officer and each member of the board shall
20complete a training course under the Peace Officer Firearm
21Training Act. The exercise of such authority shall not permit
22the possession or use of firearms by members of the board.

2becoming law.
