Amends the Medical Assistance Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. Requires a recipient of medical assistance to call and obtain authorization from the recipient's local public aid office before receiving a replacement supply of lost or stolen prescription medications or an early vacation supply of prescription medications covered under the State's medical assistance program. Authorizes the Department to promulgate rules necessary to implement this provision.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 5-5.12b as follows:
|
| 6 | | (305 ILCS 5/5-5.12b new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 5-5.12b. Replacement supply or vacation supply of |
| 8 | | prescribed medications. A recipient of aid under this Article |
| 9 | | must call and obtain authorization from the recipient's local |
| 10 | | public aid office before receiving a replacement supply of lost |
| 11 | | or stolen prescription medications or an early vacation supply |
| 12 | | of prescription medications covered under the State's medical |
| 13 | | assistance program. The Department shall promulgate rules |
| 14 | | necessary to implement this Section.
