Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that subject to federal regulations, counties and the Department of Corrections shall cooperate with the Department of Human Services in identifying persons who have been incarcerated and are ineligible for benefits under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program or the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) (formerly Food Stamp Program). Provides that this cooperation shall include managing eligibility processing and sharing information sufficient to inform the Department of Human Services, in a manner established by the Department, that a person receiving TANF or SNAP benefits has been detained or incarcerated. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by |
5 | | adding Section 1-8.6 as follows: |
6 | | (305 ILCS 5/1-8.6 new) |
7 | | Sec. 1-8.6. Ineligible recipients of aid; TANF; SNAP. |
8 | | Subject to federal regulations, counties and the Department of |
9 | | Corrections shall cooperate with the Department of Human |
10 | | Services in identifying persons who have been incarcerated and |
11 | | are ineligible for benefits under the Temporary Assistance for |
12 | | Needy Families (TANF) program or the federal Supplemental |

19 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
20 | | becoming law.
