Amends the Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that the Department of Public Health, in conjunction with the Illinois State Board of Education, shall develop educational material on streptococcal infection for distribution in elementary and secondary schools. Sets forth processes and guidelines to be included in the educational material. Effective immediately.

1 | | AN ACT concerning State government.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and |
5 | | Duties Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is |
6 | | amended by adding Section 2310-665 as follows: |
7 | | (20 ILCS 2310/2310-665 new) |
8 | | Sec. 2310-665. Educational materials on streptococcal |
9 | | infection. The Department, in conjunction with the Illinois |
10 | | State Board of Education, shall develop educational material on |
11 | | streptococcal infection for distribution in elementary and |
12 | | secondary schools. The material shall include, but not be |
13 | | limited to: |
14 | | (1) a process to notify parents or guardians of an |
15 | | outbreak in the school; |
16 | | (2) a process to provide information on all of the |
17 | | symptoms of streptococcal to teachers, parents, and |
18 | | students; and |
19 | | (3) guidelines for schools to control the spread of |
20 | | streptococcal infections.

21 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
22 | | becoming law.
