Amends the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act. Provides that when there is a report of abuse or neglect involving a child under the age of 5, if the Child Protective Service Unit determines, following an investigation, that there is credible evidence that the child is abused or neglected, the Department of Children and Family Services shall refer the child to the appropriate State or local agency for a developmental screening within 60 days after the Unit's determination. Authorizes the Department to promulgate rules necessary for the implementation of this provision. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act is |
5 | | amended by adding Section 8.2a as follows: |
6 | | (325 ILCS 5/8.2a new) |
7 | | Sec. 8.2a. Developmental screening; indicated finding of |
8 | | abuse or neglect. When there is a report of abuse or neglect |
9 | | involving a child under the age of 5, if the Child Protective |
10 | | Service Unit determines, following an investigation made |
11 | | pursuant to Section 7.4 of this Act, that there is credible |
12 | | evidence that the child is abused or neglected, the Department |
13 | | shall refer the child to the appropriate State or local agency |
14 | | for a developmental screening within 60 days after the Unit's |
15 | | determination. The Department shall promulgate rules necessary |
16 | | for the implementation of this Section.

17 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
18 | | becoming law.
