Amends the School Code. Subject to appropriation, requires the State Board of Education to establish a 3-year pilot program in which grants are provided to school districts to equip school buses that exclusively transport children with disabilities with cameras. Provides that the State Board shall determine, by rule, the application process, which districts are to be awarded grants, and the amount of the grant to be awarded.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
5 | | 2-3.154 as follows: |

7 | | Sec. 2-3.154. School bus cameras; grant program. Subject to |
8 | | appropriation, the State Board of Education shall establish a |
9 | | 3-year pilot program in which grants are provided to school |
10 | | districts to equip school buses that exclusively transport |
11 | | children with disabilities, as defined under Article 14 of this |
12 | | Code, with cameras. The State Board of Education shall |
13 | | determine, by rule, the application process, which districts |
14 | | are to be awarded grants, and the amount of the grant to be |
15 | | awarded.
