Amends the Liquor Control Act of 1934. In a provision concerning product sampling, increases the amount of alcohol that licensees under the Act are allowed to serve to a consumer for sampling purposes in one day. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Liquor Control Act of 1934 is amended by |
5 | | changing Section 6-31 as follows:
|
6 | | (235 ILCS 5/6-31)
|
7 | | Sec. 6-31. Product sampling.
|
8 | | (a) Retailer, distributor, importing distributor, |
9 | | manufacturer and
nonresident dealer licensees may conduct |
10 | | product sampling for consumption at a
licensed retail location. |
11 | | Up to 3 separate samples, consisting of no more than (i) 1/2 |
12 | | 1/4
ounce of distilled spirits, (ii) 2 ounces one ounce of |
13 | | wine, or (iii) 6 2 ounces of beer
may be served to a consumer in |
14 | | one day.
|
15 | | (b) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (a), an |
16 | | on-premises retail
licensee may offer for sale and serve more |
17 | | than one drink per person for
sampling purposes without |
18 | | violating paragraph (1) of subsection (b) of Section
6-28 or |
19 | | paragraph (6) of subsection (c) of Section 6-28 of this Act,
|
20 | | provided the total quantity of the sampling package,
regardless |
21 | | of the number of containers in which the alcoholic liquor is |
22 | | being
served, does not exceed 2 ounces 1 ounce of distilled |
23 | | spirits, 8 4 ounces of wine, or

ounces of beer.
