SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
70 ILCS 504/27 new

    Amends the Central Illinois Economic Development Authority Act. Authorizes the Central Illinois Economic Development Authority to create one or more employment advisory boards to report to the Authority on employment related issues. Provides that employment advisory boards shall consist of members of the Authority and representatives from businesses and vocational training institutions located within the geographic boundaries of the Authority. Provides that the Authority and the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity shall provide administrative and other support to employment advisory boards. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Central Illinois Economic Development
5Authority Act is amended by adding Section 27 as follows:
 
6    (70 ILCS 504/27 new)
7    Sec. 27. Employment advisory boards. The Authority may
8establish one or more employment advisory boards to report to
9it on employment related issues. Employment advisory boards
10must consist of members of the Authority and representatives
11from businesses and vocational training institutions that are
12located within the geographic boundaries of the Authority
13including, but not limited to, the following: (i)
14manufacturers, (ii) health care providers, (iii) community
15colleges, and (iv) producers and shippers of commodity and
16value-added farm products. The chairperson of an employment
17advisory board shall be appointed by a majority vote of the
18Authority. The Authority may adopt ordinances or resolutions
19concerning the reports created by employment advisory boards
20including, but not limited to, the topics and timeframes for
21the reports. Employment advisory boards shall receive
22administrative and other support from the Authority and the
23Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

1    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
2becoming law.
