Amends the Medical Assistance Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that in addition to post-parturition care, the medical assistance program shall provide not less than 60 days of follow-up care for persons who have been diagnosed during their pregnancy with gestational diabetes, and that this follow-up care shall include testing for continuing diabetes.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by |
5 | | changing Section 5-16.7 as follows:
|
6 | | (305 ILCS 5/5-16.7)
|
7 | | Sec. 5-16.7. Post-parturition care. The medical assistance |
8 | | program shall
provide the post-parturition care benefits |
9 | | required to be covered by a policy
of accident and health |
10 | | insurance under Section 356s of the
Illinois Insurance Code. |
11 | | Additionally, the program shall provide not less than 60 days |
12 | | of follow-up care for persons who have been diagnosed during |
13 | | their pregnancy with gestational diabetes. This follow-up care |
14 | | shall include testing for continuing diabetes.
