1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Park District Code is amended by changing |
5 | | Section 2-25 as follows:
|
6 | | (70 ILCS 1205/2-25) (from Ch. 105, par. 2-25)
|
7 | | Sec. 2-25. Vacancies. Whenever any member of the governing |
8 | | board of any park
district (i) dies, (ii) resigns, (iii) |
9 | | becomes under legal disability, (iv)
ceases to be a legal voter |
10 | | in the district, (v) is convicted of any
infamous crime, (vi) |
11 | | refuses or neglects to take his or her oath of office,
(vii) |
12 | | neglects to perform the duties of his or her office or attend
|
13 | | meetings of the board for the length of time as the board fixes |
14 | | by
ordinance, or (viii) for any other reason specified by law, |
15 | | that office may
be declared vacant. Vacancies shall be filled |
16 | | by appointment by a majority
of the remaining members of the |
17 | | board. Any person so appointed shall hold
his or her office |
18 | | until the next regular election for this office, at which
a |
19 | | member shall be elected to fill the vacancy for the unexpired |
20 | | term,
subject to the following conditions:

21 | | (1) If the vacancy occurs with less than 28 months |
22 | | remaining in the
term, the person appointed to fill the |
23 | | vacancy shall hold his or her office
until the expiration |
