Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Provides that companies that issue accident and health insurance policies must disclose to each policy holder whether and to what extent that company has complied during the previous year with the medical loss ratio provisions of the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Provides that the disclosure shall be issued to each policy holder upon enrollment and annually thereafter and shall include information explaining the rights of the policy holder under the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by adding |
5 | | Section 368g as follows: |
6 | | (215 ILCS 5/368g new) |
7 | | Sec. 368g. Medical loss ratio disclosure. Companies that |
8 | | issue individual or group policies of accident and health |
9 | | insurance must disclose to each policy holder whether and to |
10 | | what extent that company has complied during the previous year |
11 | | with the medical loss ratio provisions of the federal Patient |
12 | | Protection and Affordable Care Act. The disclosure required by |
13 | | this Section shall be issued to each policy holder upon |
14 | | enrollment and annually thereafter and shall include |
15 | | information explaining the rights of the policy holder under |
16 | | the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

17 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
18 | | becoming law.
