SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
110 ILCS 12/25 new

    Amends the Campus Security Enhancement Act of 2008. Provides that if the campus police department of a higher education institution becomes aware that a student has been suspended or expelled by the institution for engaging in disruptive or antisocial behavior or has withdrawn from the institution for engaging in disruptive or antisocial behavior, then the campus police department must release all files and information in its possession relating to the student's suspension, expulsion, or withdrawal to the local law enforcement agency that has jurisdiction over the institution's campus. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Campus Security Enhancement Act of 2008 is
5amended by adding Section 25 as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 12/25 new)
7    Sec. 25. Release of campus police files and information.
8    (a) In this Section, "higher education institution" has the
9meaning ascribed to that term in Section 20 of this Act.
10    (b) Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the
11contrary, if the campus police department of a higher education
12institution becomes aware that a student has been suspended or
13expelled by the institution for engaging in disruptive or
14antisocial behavior or has withdrawn from the institution for
15engaging in disruptive or antisocial behavior, then the campus
16police department must release all files and information in its
17possession relating to the student's suspension, expulsion, or
18withdrawal to the local law enforcement agency that has
19jurisdiction over the institution's campus.
 
20    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
21becoming law.
