2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Adoption Act is amended by changing Section |
5 | | 4 as follows:
|
6 | | (750 ILCS 50/4) (from Ch. 40, par. 1505)

7 | | Sec. 4. Jurisdiction and venue.
|
8 | | An adoption proceeding may be commenced in the
the circuit |
9 | | court of the
county in which petitioners reside, or the county |
10 | | in which the person to be
adopted resides, or was born, or the |
11 | | county in which the parents of such
person reside, provided, |
12 | | however, if an agency has acquired the custody and
control of a |
13 | | child and such agency is authorized to consent to the adoption
|
14 | | of such child, the proceeding may be commenced in any county, |
15 | | and provided
further that if a guardian of the person of such |
16 | | child has been appointed
by a court of competent jurisdiction, |
17 | | the proceeding may be commenced in
any county. |
