| 1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 10. The Township Code is amended by changing |
| 5 | | Section 50-20 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (60 ILCS 1/50-20)
|
| 7 | | Sec. 50-20. Counties with no township collector. No |
| 8 | | collector in counties under 100,000. |
| 9 | | (a) No collector in counties under 100,000. In counties |
| 10 | | under
township organization, having a population of less than |
| 11 | | 100,000, there shall be
no township collector elected. The |
| 12 | | county collector shall be ex-officio
township collector, and |
| 13 | | all the duties of the township collector shall devolve
upon and |
| 14 | | be performed by the county collector.

| 15 | | (b) No collector in counties over 2,000,000. In counties |
| 16 | | having a population of more than 2,000,000 inhabitants there |
| 17 | | shall be no township collector elected on and after the |
| 18 | | effective date of this amendatory Act of the 97th General |
| 19 | | Assembly. Upon the completion of the terms of office of |
| 20 | | township collectors holding office on the effective date of |
| 21 | | this amendatory Act of the 97th General Assembly, the township |
| 22 | | assessor shall be the ex-officio township collector, and all |
| 23 | | the duties of the township collector shall devolve upon and be |
