2 | | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1887 as follows:

3 | | on page 1, line 6, by replacing "13" with "26"; and |
4 | | on page 2, immediately below line 23, by inserting the |
5 | | following: |
6 | | " "Responsible managing employee" means an individual who |
7 | | has met the qualifications set forth under Section 20 of this |
8 | | Act for designated certified persons except for subsection (a) |
9 | | of Section 20 of this Act and who obtained his or her license |
10 | | prior to January 1, 2011 under Section 120 of this Act. "; and |
11 | | by deleting line 3 on page 3 through line 1 on page 5; and |
12 | | on page 9, line 24, after "insurance" by inserting " ; |
13 | | renewals "; and |

1 | | on page 10, by replacing lines 3 through 18 with the following: |
2 | | "(b) Each license must be renewed every 2 years. Each |
3 | | designated certified person or responsible managing employee |
4 | | must complete 16 hours of continuing education in the 2-year |
5 | | period following his or her renewal or initial licensure after |
6 | | the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 97th General |
7 | | Assembly. Current licensure as a professional engineer or proof |
8 | | of current NICET certification in Level III or IV shall satisfy |
9 | | this requirement for designated certified persons. Continuing |
10 | | education offered through nationally recognized building and |
11 | | fire code organizations and their affiliates; nationally |
12 | | recognized fire sprinkler organizations and their affiliates; |
13 | | institutions of higher education; educational bodies |
14 | | specializing in automatic fire suppression system technology; |
15 | | as well as other entities approved by the State Fire Marshal |
16 | | shall be also acceptable. All continuing education entities |
17 | | seeking to be approved providers of continuing education shall |
18 | | make application to the State Fire Marshal and offer programs |
19 | | that: |
20 | | (1) contribute to the advancement, extension, or |
21 | | enhancement of the professional skills or technical |
22 | | knowledge of the licensee in the practice of fire sprinkler |
23 | | contracting; and |
24 | | (2) are developed and presented by persons with |
25 | | education or experience in the subject manner of the |
26 | | program. "; and |

2 | | following: |

4 | | Sec. 26. Change of a responsible managing employee. When a |
5 | | licensee is without a responsible managing employee, the |
6 | | licensee shall notify the State Fire Marshal in writing within |
7 | | 30 days and the licensee shall employ a designated certified |
8 | | person no later than 180 days after the time the position of |
9 | | responsible managing employee becomes vacant. The State Fire |
10 | | Marshal may, after review of qualifications, accept a |
11 | | substitute responsible managing employee for the remainder of |
12 | | the current license period. Upon application for renewal a |
13 | | designated certified person will be required. Failing to fill |
14 | | the vacant position shall cause the license of the person or of |
15 | | the business organization to expire without further operation |
16 | | of law. ".
