1 | | AN ACT concerning aging.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Senior Citizens on State Boards and |
5 | | Commissions Act is amended by changing Section 1 as follows:
|

7 | | Sec. 1.
It is hereby found and and determined by the |
8 | | General Assembly that
state boards and commissions exist for |
9 | | the singular purpose of protecting
the public health and |
10 | | welfare; that citizens over 60 years of age represent
a |
11 | | significant percentage of the population and have the time and |
12 | | experience
to devote to the important issues which have a |
13 | | profound effect on the daily
lives of older Illinoisans.

14 | | It is also hereby found that senior citizens shall hold |
15 | | their positions
on boards and commissions by matter of right, |
16 | | not discretion. These
positions shall be held by consumer |
17 | | representatives over the age of 60 who
shall serve as |
18 | | spokespersons for the interests of the State's older |
19 | | population.
