AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1656




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1656 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 
4    "Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended  by 
5adding Section 12-4.44 as follows:
 
6    (305 ILCS 5/12-4.44 new)
7    Sec. 12-4.44. Report on centralizing administrative 
8functions. The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, 
9with the cooperation of the Department of Human Services, shall 
10provide a report to the General Assembly by January 1, 2012, 
11regarding the feasibility and potential consequences of 
12centralizing administrative functions, to the extent allowable 
13under federal law, for applicants applying only for medical 
14assistance.  The report shall include, but need not be limited 
15to, an analysis of centralizing administrative functions in a 
16statewide or regional centers administered by either public or

1private entities, and an analysis of the impact of removing 
2medical assistance only cases from the caseload assigned to 
3employees in local Department of Human Services field offices 
4that accept and process applications for benefits.
 

5    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 
62011.".
