1    AN ACT concerning civil law.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Good Samaritan Act is amended by changing
5Sections 10 and 12 as follows:
 
6    (745 ILCS 49/10)
7    Sec. 10. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation; exemption from
8civil liability for emergency care. Any person trained
9currently certified in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation who
10has successfully completed training in accordance with the
11standards of the American Red Cross or the American Heart
12Association and complies with generally recognized standards,
13and who in good faith, not for compensation, provides emergency
14cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with his or her
15training to a person who is an apparent victim of acute
16cardiopulmonary insufficiency shall not, as the result of his
17or her acts or omissions in providing resuscitation, be liable
18for civil damages, unless the acts or omissions constitute
19willful and wanton misconduct.

22    Sec. 12. Use of an automated external defibrillator;

1exemption from civil liability for emergency care. As provided
2in Section 30 of the Automated External Defibrillator Act, any
3automated external defibrillator user who has successfully
4completed training in accordance with the standards of the
5American Red Cross or the American Heart Association and who in
6good faith and without fee or compensation renders emergency
7medical care involving the use of an automated external
8defibrillator in accordance with his or her training is not
9liable for any civil damages as a result of any act or
10omission, except for willful and wanton misconduct, by that
11person in rendering that care.

13    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
14becoming law.
