Amends the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code. Provides that no respondent may be found subject to involuntary admission
on an inpatient or outpatient basis unless at least one psychiatrist, clinical social worker, clinical
psychologist, or qualified examiner (rather than at least one psychiatrist, clinical social worker, or clinical
psychologist) who has examined the respondent (rather than who has examined him) testifies in person at the hearing. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Mental Health and Developmental |
5 | | Disabilities Code is amended by changing Section 3-807 as |
6 | | follows: |

8 | | Sec. 3-807. No respondent may be found subject to |
9 | | involuntary admission
on an inpatient or outpatient basis |
10 | | unless at least one psychiatrist, clinical social worker, or |

12 | | the respondent him testifies in person at the hearing. The

13 | | respondent may waive the requirement of the testimony subject |
14 | | to the
approval of the court. |
