1 | | The Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board |
2 | | shall develop a process for waiver applications sent by the |
3 | | agency administrator for those officers whose prior training |
4 | | and experience as homicide investigators may qualify them for a |
5 | | waiver. The Board may issue a waiver at its discretion, based |
6 | | solely on the prior training and experience of an officer as a |
7 | | homicide investigator. |

9 | | Section 10. The Illinois Police Training Act is amended by |
10 | | changing Section 10.11 as follows: |

14 | | Sec. 10.11. Training; death and homicide investigation. |
15 | | The Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board shall |
16 | | conduct or approve a training program in death and homicide |
17 | | investigation for the training of law enforcement officers of |
18 | | local government agencies. Only law enforcement officers who |
19 | | successfully complete the training program may be assigned as |
20 | | lead investigators in death and homicide investigations. |
21 | | Satisfactory completion of the training program shall be |
22 | | evidenced by a certificate issued to the law enforcement |
23 | | officer by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards |
24 | | Board.

9 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January |
10 | | 1, 2012.".
