| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

The practice of funeral |

embalming in the State of Illinois is declared to |
| 10 | | be a practice affecting the
public health, safety and welfare |
| 11 | | and subject to regulation and control in the
public interest. |
| 12 | | It is further declared to be a matter of public interest and
|
| 13 | | concern that the preparation, care and final disposal of a |
| 14 | | deceased human body
be attended with appropriate observance and |
| 15 | | understanding, having due regard
and respect for the reverent |
| 16 | | care of the human body and for those bereaved and
the overall |
| 17 | | spiritual dignity of man. It is further a matter of public |
| 18 | | interest
that the practice of funeral directing and embalming |
| 19 | | as defined in this Code
merit and receive the confidence of the |
| 20 | | public and that only qualified persons
be authorized to |
| 21 | | practice funeral directing and embalming in the State of
|
| 22 | | Illinois. This Code shall be liberally construed to best carry |
| 23 | | out these
subjects and purposes. |
