1 | | created. The Task Force shall consist of 9 members appointed as |
2 | | follows: 2 members appointed by the Senate President; 2 members |
3 | | appointed by the Senate Minority Leader; 2 members appointed by |
4 | | the Speaker of the House of Representatives; 2 members |
5 | | appointed by the House Minority Leader; one member, to serve as |
6 | | chair, appointed by the Governor. Membership of the Secure |
7 | | Communities Action Task Force shall be representative of law |
8 | | enforcement, affected communities, and immigration and human |
9 | | rights advocacy groups. Members shall serve without |
10 | | compensation, but may be reimbursed for expenses associated |
11 | | with the Secure Communities Task Force. The Secure Communities |
12 | | Task Force may accept donated services and other resources that |
13 | | may be necessary to complete the work of the Task Force from |
14 | | not-for-profit organizations. The Department of Human Rights |
15 | | shall provide administrative and other support to the Task |
16 | | Force. The Secure Communities Action Task Force shall begin to |
17 | | conduct business upon the appointment of all members. The |
18 | | Secure Communities Action Task Force shall review data and |
19 | | conduct additional investigations concerning the Secure |
20 | | Communities Memorandum of Agreement, including hearings in |
21 | | participating counties, and shall report its findings and |
22 | | recommendations to the Governor and the General Assembly no |
23 | | later than June 30, 2012. The Task Force is dissolved upon |
24 | | submission of the report. |
25 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
26 | | becoming law. |
