Amends the Counties Code. Provides that on and after the effective date of the amendatory Act and until November 30, 2011, the county board of Rock Island may reduce the salaries or return to a per diem method of compensation for all county board members and the Chairman of the board. Effective immediately.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by changing Section |
| 5 | | 4-10001 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (55 ILCS 5/4-10001) (from Ch. 34, par. 4-10001)

| 7 | | Sec. 4-10001. County board members. County board members |
| 8 | | elected pursuant
to Division 2-3 shall receive such |
| 9 | | compensation as is fixed by the county
board in accordance with |
| 10 | | the method of compensation selected by the county
board. Except |
| 11 | | as provided in Section 4-10002, Such compensation shall be set |
| 12 | | before the general election at which
county board members are |
| 13 | | elected. The chairman of the county board shall
receive such |
| 14 | | additional compensation as determined by the county board in

| 15 | | reapportioning the county.

| 16 | | County board members and the chairman of the county board |

entitled to travel and expense allowances as |
| 18 | | determined by the county
board.
