Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Code of Civil Procedure. Repeals a provision requiring the Supreme Court to evaluate the effectiveness of mandatory court-annexed arbitration and report the results of the evaluation to the General Assembly annually. Effective immediately.

Further amends the Code of Civil Procedure. Repeals language that provides that no witness shall be compelled to testify in any proceeding conducted by a court, commission, administrative agency or other tribunal in this State if any portion of his or her testimony is to be broadcast or televised or if motion pictures are to be taken of him or her while he or she is testifying.

House Committee Amendment No. 1

Adds reference to:
735 ILCS 5/8-701from Ch. 110, par. 8-701

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. In a Section of the Code of Civil Procedure providing that a witness may not be compelled to testify in specified proceedings if any portion of the testimony is to be broadcast or televised or if motion pictures of the testimony are to be taken, makes the following changes: deletes a reference in the Section to any proceeding conducted by a court; and adds language providing that the Section does not apply to judicial proceedings. Also re-inserts a provision of the engrossed bill that repeals a Section of the Code of Civil Procedure requiring the Supreme Court to evaluate the effectiveness of mandatory court-annexed arbitration and report the results of the evaluation to the General Assembly annually. Effective immediately.
