Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the use of force in defense of a person.

Senate Committee Amendment No. 1
Deletes reference to:
720 ILCS 5/7-1from Ch. 38, par. 7-1
Adds reference to:
730 ILCS 5/5-6-1from Ch. 38, par. 1005-6-1

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Unified Code of Corrections. Provides that the court shall not enter an order of supervision to a defendant charged with speeding when the defendant drives a vehicle upon any highway of the State at a speed that is 31 miles per hour or more (rather than 40 miles per hour or more) in excess of the applicable maximum speed limit established under the Illinois Vehicle Code or a local ordinance. Provides that the court shall not enter an order of supervision to a defendant charged with speeding when the defendant was operating a vehicle, in an urban district, at a speed in excess of 25 miles per hour over the posted speed limit.

Senate Committee Amendment No. 2
Adds a July 1, 2013 effective date to the bill.
