Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Unified Code of Corrections. Makes a technical change in a Section requiring the Department of Corrections to designate those institutions and facilities that are maintained for persons assigned as adults and as juveniles.

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Private Correctional Facility Moratorium Act. Changes the title of the Act to the Private Correctional and Detention Facility Moratorium Act. Provides that the Act applies to detention as well as correctional facilities. Provides that an agency, officer, employee, or agent thereof shall not contract with a private contractor or private vendor for the provision of services relating to the operation of a correctional or detention facility. Provides that a government agency or employee, officer, or agent shall not make any payment to that private contractor or private vendor based on that contract. Effective immediately.

House Floor Amendment No. 1
Provides that the changes made by the amendatory Act apply only to contracts entered into on or after May 1, 2012. Provides that the changes made by the amendatory Act do not apply to the renewal of contracts in which the original contracts were entered into before May 1, 2012.
