Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the School Code. In provisions concerning supplemental general State aid, removes language requiring school districts with an Average Daily Attendance of more than 1,000 and less than 50,000 that qualify for supplemental general State aid to submit a plan to the State Board of Education prior to October 30 of each year for the use of the funds resulting from the grant of supplemental general State aid for the improvement of instruction in which priority is given to meeting the education needs of disadvantaged children.

Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the contents of the bill, with the following changes. Further amends the School Code. Makes changes concerning block grant reporting, the legal adviser of school officers, budgets and accounting practices, the new principal mentoring program, a task force concerning the inspection and review of school facilities, a task force concerning school wellness policies, joint educational program agreements, home-hospital grants, supervisory expenses, State aid claims, dropouts, charter school proposals and certified charters, and reporting on the number of Chicago high school students enrolled in courses at a community college. Repeals Sections concerning granting and suspending teachers' certificates, visiting charitable institutions, information furnished by regional superintendents of schools, the design of programs that provide continuing education for teachers, the Committee of Cooperative Services, and alternative learning opportunities program funding. Amends the Critical Health Problems and Comprehensive Health Education Act to repeal a Section concerning an advisory committee. Repeals the Chicago Community Schools Study Commission Act.
