Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Liquor Control Act of 1934. In language that establishes petition requirements for submitting a petition to place on an election ballot a proposition concerning the prohibition of the sale of alcohol within a designated area or jurisdiction, provides that the applicable percentage of voters is not less than 25% of registered voters who cast a ballot in the last presidential election in the applicable area or jurisdiction (instead of 25% of the legal voters registered to vote in the applicable area or jurisdiction).

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Liquor Control Act of 1934. Provides that if a petition is filed in calendar years 2012, 2013, or 2014 that seeks to prohibit the sale at retail of alcoholic liquor in a precinct, and the petition includes supporting materials demonstrating, to the satisfaction of the local liquor control commissioner, that there is a correlation between the sale of alcoholic liquor and the incidence of crime in that precinct, then the petition shall contain the signatures of not less than 25% of registered voters who cast a ballot in the last presidential election in that precinct. Effective immediately.
