Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Department of Natural Resources (Conservation) Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that the requirement that a Conservation Police Officer have certain collegiate educational requirements is deemed to be satisfied if the applicant has been honorably discharged and has been awarded an Afghan or Iraqi campaign medal by one of the United States armed forces. Effective immediately.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Provides that all persons who have either (i) been honorably discharged and who have been awarded an Afghan or Iraqi campaign medal by the military or naval services of the United States or (ii) are active members of the Illinois National Guard or a reserve component of the United States Armed Forces and who have been awarded an Afghan or Iraqi campaign medal as a result of honorable service during deployment on active duty, are deemed to have met the collegiate educational requirements for a sworn law enforcement position or position that has arrest authority.

Senate Committee Amendment No. 1
Provides that those who have been have been honorably discharged and who have been awarded a Southwest Asia Service Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, or Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal by the United States Armed Forces (instead of an Afghan or Iraqi campaign medal) or (ii) are active members of the Illinois National Guard or a reserve component of the United States Armed Forces and who have been awarded a Southwest Asia Service Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, or Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (instead of an Afghan or Iraqi campaign medal) as a result of honorable service during deployment on active duty, are deemed to have met the collegiate educational requirements for a sworn law enforcement position or position that has arrest authority.
