Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963. Provides that during a trial or hearing related to a criminal prosecution, the court shall order that the residence address, business address, name of the place of business, home telephone number, or business telephone number of any victims of or witnesses to the crime shall not be disclosed in open court. Provides that during questioning by the State or defense, a victim or witness shall not be required to disclose such information unless the court determines that there is a compelling reason to order such disclosure in the interest of justice that outweighs prejudice to the victim or witness.

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Removes the substance of the bill. Amends the Criminal Code of 1961 to reorganize provisions concerning harms to children and incorporate provisions from certain other Acts concerning harms to children. Creates the Yo-Yo Waterball Sales Prohibition Act containing provisions similar to the provisions of the Criminal Code of 1961 prohibiting the sale of yo-yo waterballs. Repeals the Hazing Act, the Neglected Children Offense Act, the Adoption Compensation Prohibition Act, and the Child Curfew Act, all of which are being relocated into the Criminal Code. Amends various Acts to: make conforming changes, combine multiple versions of criminal statutes, correct cross-references, and make other changes.
