Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Liquor Control Act of 1934. In a provision concerning product sampling, increases the amount of alcohol that licensees under the Act are allowed to serve to a consumer for sampling purposes in one day. Effective immediately.

House Floor Amendment No. 1
Reduces the increase in the sample amounts for distilled spirits, wine, and beer that may be served to a consumer in one day. Provides that the retailer, distributor, importing distributor, manufacturer, or non-resident dealer must verify that the consumer being served the sample is at least 21 years of age. Provides that the licensee or an agent of the licensee conducting the product sampling must document the total number of consumers being served the sample and the number of samples served to each consumer to ensure that no more than 3 separate samples are served to a consumer in one day. Makes changes to language that increases the total quantity of the sampling package that an on-premises retail licensee may offer for sale and serve for sampling purposes.

Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Liquor Control Act of 1934. Adds 2 exceptions concerning the sale of liquor near a school: (1) for a full-service grocery store; and (2) for a full-service grocery store, a restaurant, and a tavern in a retail complex. Effective immediately.

Removes language in an exception that allows the sale of alcoholic liquor within restaurants or taverns within 100 feet of a school that meet other specified criteria.
