Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Provides that whenever an unincorporated parcel of land that is within the boundaries of a fire protection district is annexed into the corporate limits of a municipality with a municipal fire department, the municipal fire department and the fire protection district may negotiate an intergovernmental agreement to allow the fire protection district to have jurisdiction over the annexed parcel. If no agreement is adopted, then the automatic transfer of jurisdiction from the fire protection district to the municipality shall occur upon annexation. Effective immediately.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Replaces everything after the enacting clause and re-inserts similar provisions. Adds language repealing the new provisions 12 months after becoming law or on June 30, 2012, whichever is first. Effective immediately.
