Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Smoke Detector Act. Provides that the meaning of "dwelling unit" shall include each living unit in a hotel. Effective January 1, 2012.

House Floor Amendment No. 2

	Adds reference to:
	425 ILCS 60/3	from Ch. 127 1/2, par. 803

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Smoke Detector Act. Provides that every dwelling unit "or hotel" shall be equipped with at least one approved smoke detector in an operating condition within 15 feet of every room used for sleeping purposes. Further provides that a hotel shall be responsible for installing and maintaining smoke detecting equipment. Effective January 1, 2012.
